The problematic remark came during a recent House of Representatives (House of Representatives) Budget Committee when Okada Katsuya, a member of the main opposition Constitutional Democratic Party, said, "(Prime Minister Takaichi) said during the LDP presidential election that if China imposes a maritime blockade on Taiwan, it could become an existential crisis," and questioned his past remarks about Taiwan's emergencies such as war or disasters. Prime Minister Takaichi said, "If the U.S. military arrives to lift the maritime blockade, China might use some kind of force to block it, and if it involves the use of force, I think it could become an existential crisis." An existential crisis refers to a situation where Japan can exercise collective self-defense, and collective self-defense means that even if a country is not attacked, it means the right to jointly respond if a closely related country such as an ally is attacked. If China tries to occupy Taiwan by force, and if the U.S. military intervenes, it can use the capability to attack enemy bases (counterattack capability). This is the first time a sitting Japanese prime minister has officially referred to Taiwan as an 'existential crisis,' and for China, which views Taiwan as a core interest in diplomatic relations, it was a statement that cannot be ignored. Conflict After Prime Minister Takaichi's remarks that triggered the conflict, there is no sign of the conflict subsiding. China, which had been attacking with 'verbal bombs' demanding the retraction of the statement, has advised its citizens to refrain from visiting Japan, and in effect , has even resorted to forceful actions. It appears to have taken action. Considering that the largest number of foreign tourists visiting Japan are Chinese, the recommendation to refrain from visiting actually places economic pressure on Japan. As the atmosphere became tense, criticism arose within Japan that Takaichi's remarks were not cautious,,, yet ,,, Takaichi has stated he will not make any softening remarks,,, firmly declaring he will govern with conviction!!!!!!!
